​About this programme

The NWN Assessors course has been designed for professionals seeking a neurodiversity-focused qualification related to Workplace Needs Assessment.  This training provides learners with the fundamentals for undertaking needs assessments in the workplace and includes the various stages of the Workplace Needs Assessment process and the relationships/communication required with the potentially numerous ‘parties’ involved.

Background

​Unfortunately, there are countless individuals reluctant to speak out about challenges they face with their day-to-day work tasks and therefore they don’t seek help in a proactive way when they need it – with many only reaching out as ‘last resort’.  However, when people do reach out it is vitally important that they are able to access support which is both appropriate to their needs and delivered professionally - not least because at this point, especially if delayed, this may have impacted negatively on their wellbeing and mental health.

Who is this programme for?

The programme has been designed for Human Resources professionals, those working in Learning & Development, Occupational Health, Diversity & Inclusion and other professionals including Specialist Teachers who may benefit from this workplace-focused course.  There will also be people who are considering this as a potential freelance career exploring looking at this because they want to become independent provider.

​Delivery Trainer Information

Janette Beetham is a Workplace Dyslexia/Neurodiversity Consultant with over 18 years’ experience.  Having previously been a generalist related to Dyslexia and co-occurring neurodivergent conditions - working in the earlier years in schools, colleges, universities as well as workplaces she decided that workplaces were where she wanted to focus her efforts when she started Right Resources Limited 10+ years ago.  

She is herself dyslexic/neurodivergent (having discovered this in her late 30’s) and she has designed this and a number of other programmes - with a passion to help employers provide appropriate support staff and untap the potential of the whole workforce. 

Janette Beetham

Her background includes; being a manager for the Princes Trust, a Business Counsellor, a Neuro Linguistic Programming Practitioner and, for many years she was a Senior Associate for the British Dyslexia Association (BDA) with the tutoring lead on their national programme for Workplace Needs Assessors.  She is a Member of the Institute of Consulting, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts as well as Staff Consultant for Dyslexia and Neurodivergent Conditions at Imperial College, London.

Janette has written a number of articles including several BDA publications; Dyslexia in the Workplace and The Dyslexia Handbook in 2017, 2018 and 2019.  Also,  She also has a published academic paper entitled: Workplace Dyslexia & Specific Learning Difficulties―Productivity, Engagement and Well-Being ​related to her work as a Consultant at Imperial College London.

​Delivery Trainer Information

Helen Boden set up Dyslexia & Neurodiversity In-Sight Ltd in 2020 offering assessments, support and consultancy for individuals and others seeking to understand neurodiversity across all age ranges and settings.

Helen is a Specialist Teacher Assessor with AMBDA accreditation and holds an Assessment Practicing Certificate.  She carries out numerous diagnostic assessments each year including assessments for Dyspraxia/DCD and ADHD for those over the age of 18 for work and education purposes.  She has worked in the neurodiversity space for over 25 years. During this time, she has worked with individuals from all walks of life and a wide variety of organisations from SMEs through to international corporations.   

Helen Boden

Previously Helen was CEO of the British Dyslexia Association (BDA) and prior to this had been instrumental in setting up the BDA’s Training, Assessments and Conferencing operations including developing and writing many of their training programmes and gaining external accreditation for their training.

As CEO of the BDA, she was at the forefront of research and campaigning to raise the profile of dyslexia and neurodiversity.  In addition to being a director of Dyslexia & Neurodiversity In-Sight Ltd, Helen is CEO at I AM Celebrating Autism in Greater Manchester.  I AM is a charity that provides support to individuals over the age of 10 years with Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC).  It also provides training and consultancy services to other organisations and employers on all matters relating to ASC.
